The Supabase hook fails open. When our server errors, is down or takes longer than 1.5 seconds, the Cloudflare Worker in front of it lets the signup through unchecked. If Cloudflare fails, or Supabase cannot reach the Worker, Supabase refuses the signup, as it does for any hook that fails.

If you call the REST API yourself, give the call a short timeout and let the signup through when it fails, so an outage here never refuses your users either. See the API docs.
